Spring's Coming!

This tutorial was written by me on March 17th, 2014 and was written assuming you have a general knowledge of PSP.  You will need the following supplies:

"Spring...Toadly Amazing" is a gorgeous tagger-size kit by Horseplay's Pasture Designs.  You can purchase it at Scraps From The Heart, and if you purchase before the end of March, you can take advantage of a 50% off sale.  Thank you for another wonderful kit Bev!

I used the beautiful art of Cris DeLara.  This tube is entitled "Flower Power" and is available at Up Your Art.

Template #238 by Toxic Desirez.

Mask #80 by Designs by Vaybs.

Font: I used AL Playbook.

*Note: When referring to drop shadows, I use the following abbreviations:

V = Vertical
H = Horizontal
O = Opacity
B = Blur

~~ Let's get started! ~~

Place the mask in your PSP mask folder or a folder of your choice.

Open the template in PSP, shift + d to duplicate; close the original.

Delete these layers: Credits, Copy of Raster 2 and Copy of Raster 9.

Resize all layers 85%.  Change the canvas size to 800 x 800.  Activate Raster 1 and flood fill with white.

Activate Raster 8; select all, float and defloat.  From the kit, open paper 2 and resize 80%.  Copy and paste as a new layer.  Invert selection and tap delete.  Deselect and delete original layer.  Apply a drop shadow of choice or use my settings: V: 0, H: 0, O: 53, B: 12.

Follow these steps for the rest of the template layers:

Raster 9: use paper 7; do not drop shadow
Raster 7: use paper 3
Raster 6 and Copy of Raster 6: use paper 9
Raster 3: use paper 10
Raster 5: use paper 11
Raster 2: use paper 7; do not drop shadow
Raster 10: use paper 3
Raster 11: use paper 2
Raster 4: use paper 2

Resize the tube 90%; copy and paste as a new layer.  Apply a drop shadow of choice, or use my settings: V: 0, H: 7, O: 38, B: 15.

Add your elements, I used:

#39: resize 90% and arrange above the large circle to frame it.  Duplicate and resize 70%; move this layer above the smaller circle.  Apply a drop shadow of choice.  I used: V&H: 2, O: 53, B: 8.
#12 & 13: resize each 25%.  Free rotate 20° left or right and sharpen.  Duplicate one and mirror.
#15: resize 85%; duplicate and mirror.
#16: resize 50%; free rotate 90° right and move below the previous two layers.  Arrange at the bottom, in the center.
#18: resize 30%.
#26: resize 70%; copy and paste above background layer.  Duplicate and mirror.
#57: resize 40%.
#58: resize 40%.
#59: resize 40%, duplicate and mirror.  Resize 85%.
#60: resize 60%.

Add drop shadow above to all elements.  Hide the background layer and merge visible.  Resize the merged layer 95%.  Unhide background and add a new raster layer.  Select all, copy paper #1 and paste into the selection.  Deselect and apply DBV mask #80; merge the mask group.

Crop and resize your tag.  Change the foreground to #e8d869 and the background to #a90000.  Add your name using the font AL Playbook.  Set the size to 95 and Stroke to 1.  Apply drop shadow above.

Add all applicable copyright and license information.  Save as a png and you're finished.  Thank you for trying my tutorial!  If you'd like to show me your results, please email me HERE.

Hugs, Carol♥
