Forest Sprite

This tutorial was written by me on August 9th, 2013 and was written assuming you have a general knowledge of PSP.  You will need the following supplies:

"Summer Solstice" is a beautiful kit by Designs by Stina.  Please visit Stina's blog HERE to find links to her stores.  Thanks so much for this kit hun, it's gorgeous as are all your kits.  :)

Beautiful artwork by Mitzi Sato-Wiuff.  This tube is entitled "Hydrangea Sprite" and you will find it at PSP Tube Stop.  Please don't use Mitzi's work without a license.

Mask #80 by Designs by Vaybs.

Font: I used Black Flowers Blossom, HERE.

~~ Remember to save often! ~~

Place the mask in your PSP mask folder or a folder of your choice.

Open a new image, 800 x 800, white background.

From the kit, open Frame08 and resize 65%.  Copy and paste as a new layer.

Using the freehand selection tool, draw a selection around the frame, like this:

Open Paper 8 and resize 70%.  Copy and paste as a new layer and move below the frame.  Invert selection and tap delete.  Do not deselect.

Open the tube and resize 80%.  Copy and paste as a new layer within the selection, see my tag for placement.  Tap delete and deselect.  Apply a drop shadow of choice, I used H&V 2, Opacity 35, Blur 8.  Change the blend mode to Soft Light.

Activate the frame layer.  Zoom in on the left side and use the eraser tool to carefully remove that side of the frame.

Open Lanterns02, do not resize.  Copy and paste as a new layer and place on the left side to replace the part you erased.  You may need to use the raster deform tool to pull out the paper layer a bit.  If it shows behind the lanterns, simply erase the visible bits.

Open Floral01 and resize 80%.  Copy and paste as a new layer above the lantern layer.  Duplicate and move the original below the lantern layer.  Using the eraser, and working on the top (copy) layer, remove the parts that are over the lanterns.  Erase the bottom parts that are too far to the right.  Paste again as a new layer and arrange at the bottom of the lanterns, erase the excess.  Duplicate the original Floral01 layer (bottom) and move to the right side of the frame.  Duplicate and arrange the lower portion as well.

Open Floral03 and resize 50%.  Copy and paste as a new layer.  Free rotate 70° right.  Arrange at the top left of the frame.  Duplicate and move the original below the frame.  Erase the flowers that cover the lantern on the top (copy) layer.  Duplicate the original layer once again and move to the top.  Arrange on the right side.

You should now have something that looks like this:

(I hid the tube layer before I took the screen shot).

Apply drop shadow to the frame and flower vines, I used H&V 2, Opacity 48, Blur 10.

Resize the tube 55%.  Copy and paste as a new layer and mirror.  Arrange as shown.  Apply a drop shadow of choice.  I used V 0, H 13, Opacity 21, Blur 20.

Add your other elements, I used:

Foliage01: resize 40%; mirror.  Duplicate and resize 80%.
Foliage04: do not resize; duplicate, arrange as shown and merge down.  Duplicate merged layer and mirror.
HarvestMoon: resize 40%

Apply drop shadow to all elements, I used H&V 2, Opacity 48, Blur 10.

Hide the background layer and merge visible.  Resize merged layer 85%.  Unhide background layer and add a new raster layer.  Select all.  Copy and paste Paper 6 into the selection.  Deselect and apply Vaybs mask #80; merge mask group.  Use the raster deform tool to adjust mask size and placement.

Crop and resize your tag.

Add your name and all applicable copyright and license information.  Save as a png and you're finished.  Enjoy your new tag!  :)

I'd love to see your results, email me HERE.

Hugs, Carol♥
