A Darker Love

This tutorial was written by me on July 28th, 2012 and is the result of my own ideas.  Any resemblance to any other tutorial is purely coincidental and unintentional.

PSP version used: X2, but should work in other versions.

This tutorial was written assuming you have a general knowledge of PSP.

Supplies Needed

Scrap kit: I used a fabulous kit by Amy Marie's Kits called "Love Spell".  You can get it at Inspirations of Scrapfriends.  Thanks so much hun!

Tube: I used an awesome tube by Vicki Yeager called "Vampire Lovers".  You can purchase her work at Up Your Art.  Please don't use without a license.

Mask: I used mask #192 from Gem's Taggin' Scraps.

Plug-in used: Eye Candy 4000 Gradient Glow (for name).

Font: I used Vampiress, HERE.

Drop shadows used:

Frame: H&V 0, Opacity 62, Blur 12
Everything else: H&V 2, Opacity 62, Blur 8

~~ Remember to save often! ~~

Place the mask in your PSP masks folder or a folder of your choice.

Open a new image, 750 x 750, white background.

From the kit, open Frame2 and resize 90%.  Copy and paste as a new layer.

Using the magic wand, click inside the frame.  Expand the selection by 5.

Open a paper of choice and resize 70%.  Copy and paste as a new layer and move below the frame.  Invert selection and tap delete.  Do not deselect.

Open Tree2 and resize 55%.  Copy and paste as a new layer and arrange as desired.  Tap delete.  Do not deselect.

Open the tube and resize 80%.  Copy and paste as a new layer beneath the frame.  Duplicate and move the copy above the frame.  Hide the copy and activate the original.  Using the eraser, remove the part of the tube that shows below the frame.  Deselect.

Activate the frame layer and click inside the frame with the magic wand again, do not expand the selection.

Activate the tube copy above the frame and erase the part that covers the frame at the bottom.  Zoom in and carefully remove the bits close to her hair so you don't accidentally remove part of it.  Deselect.  Apply drop shadow to the bottom tube only.

Now add your elements, I used:

Skulls: resize 50%; mirror
Cloud: do not resize; duplicate and arrange as shown
Moon: resize 40%
Tree: resize 70%
El1: resize 30%
GothCross2: resize 60%; free rotate right 15 degrees and sharpen
Grailblood2: resize 45%
Grass: do not resize; duplicate 2x and arrange
Flower1: resize 85% 2x
Leaves: resize 50%, then 85%
Spiderweb: resize 25%

Apply drop shadows.

Hide the background layer and merge visible.  Unhide the background layer and add a new raster layer.

Foreground: #7c7d7f
Background: #dddddd

Change foreground to gradient with these settings:

Style: Radial
Angle: 45
Repeat: 5
Invert selection: unchecked

Click OK.

Flood fill the new layer with this gradient.  Apply the mask and merge the mask group.  Use the raster deform tool to move the mask up from the bottom and resize as desired.  See my tag for reference.

Crop and resize your tag.  Add your name using the Vampiress font, colour #792b2b.  Apply Eye Candy 4000 Gradient Glow using these settings:

Under the Colour tab:

Choose Medium from the list and change the colour to #dddddd

Under the Basic tab:

Glow Width: 3.00
Soft Corners: 0
Overall Opacity: 100
Draw Only Outside Selection: checked

Click OK.

Add all copyright and license information.  Save as a png or jpg and your tag is complete.  Enjoy it!

Cute As A Bug (PTU)

Cute As A Bug

Supplies Needed

Scrap kit: I used a fabulous kit by TLP Designz called "Cute As A Bug".  What a wonderful kit this is!!  You can get it at Inspirations Of Scrapfriends.  Thanks so much Tammy!

Tube: I used an absolutely adorable tube by Sue Rundle-Hughes called "Puppy & Butterfly".  OMG I am in love with this tube, it is soooo cute!!!  Sue is a fabulous artist, check out her work at PSP Tube Stop.  Please don't use without a license.

Template: I used one of Bev's awesome templates, #150.  Download from her blog HERE.

Mask: I used mask #80 from Designs by Vaybs.

Font: I used Tipsy Giggles, HERE.

Drop shadows used:

For template elements: H&V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 12
Everything else: H&V 2, Opacity 50, Blur 8

~~ Remember to save often! ~~

Place the mask in your PSP masks folder or a folder of your choice.

Open the template in PSP, duplicate and close the original.  Delete the credit layer and change the canvas size to 800 x 750.  Activate the background layer and flood fill the blank area with white.

Activate Square 1; select all, float and defloat.  Open a paper of choice from the kit and resize 70%.  Copy and paste as a new layer, invert selection and tap delete.  Deselect and delete the original layer.

Repeat these steps for all template layers.  Apply drop shadows.

Open the tube and resize the puppy 85%.  Copy and paste as a new layer and arrange in front of the circle, see my tag for placement.

Now add your elements, I used:

Caterpillar: resize 30%, then 85%
Lace02: resize 50% and place along the bottom of the rectangle.  Use the raster deform tool to stretch it to fit.  Sharpen.
Leaves: resize 40%, then 85%; duplicate and flip; duplicate again.  Arrange above the background layer along the sides of the tag, see my tag for reference.
Flower03: resize 55%
Flower01: resize 50%; duplicate and resize 85%.  Free rotate the copy 15 degrees left.  Duplicate and mirror, arrange as shown.
Ladybug02: resize 30%; duplicate and resize 85%
Button01: resize 30%; free rotate 45 degrees left
Button02: resize 25%, place on top of button 1 and merge down.  Duplicate and resize 70%; duplicate again and arrange as shown.
Flower08 & 10: resize each 20%
Butterfly01 & 02: resize each 20%

Apply drop shadows.

Hide the background layer and merge visible.  Unhide the background layer and add a new raster layer.  Select all.  Copy and paste a paper of choice into the selection; deselect.  Apply the mask and merge the mask group.

Crop and resize your tag.  Add your name and all applicable copyright and license information.  Save as a png or jpg and you're finished!  Enjoy your new tag!

Girly Girl (PTU)

Girly Girl

This tutorial was written assuming you have a general knowledge of PSP.

Supplies Needed

Scrap kit: I used a gorgeous kit by Tootypup Scraps called "Portrait Of A Rose".  Please visit Susan's blog HERE for links to her stores.  Thank you so much for this stunning kit Susan!

Tube: I used the sexy pinup art of Jennifer Janesko.  Jennifer was with CILM when I purchased this tube, you can now purchase her work at CDO.

Template: I used template #72 by Tracy F. Designz.  You can download her wonderful templates at Freebie Friends Scraps & More.

Mask: I used mask #19 from Moonbeams & Spiderwebs.

Plug-in used: Xero Porcelain & Radiance, HERE.

Drop shadows used:

Template elements: H&V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 12
Paper layers (above glitter frames): H&V 0, Opacity 35, Blur 10
Kit elements: H&V 2, Opacity 50, Blur 10
Text: H&V 2, Opacity 35, Blur 6

~~ Remember to save often! ~~

Place the mask in your PSP masks folder or a folder of your choice.

Open the template in PSP, duplicate and close the original.

Change the canvas size to 800 x 750.

Delete the Tracy F. Designz layer.  Add a new raster layer and send to the bottom, flood fill with white.

Activate the rectangle layer.  Select all, float and defloat.  Open a paper of choice from the kit and resize 70%.  Copy and paste as a new layer.  Invert selection and tap delete.  Deselect and delete the original layer.

Repeat these steps for the circle and square layers.

After adding the paper to the square layer, do not deselect.  Open your tube, copy and paste as a new layer and resize 125%; arrange within the selection.  Tap delete and deselect.

Apply Xero Porcelain using the default settings.

Apply Xero Radiance using the default settings, but change the "Beauty" slider to 150.  Change the blend mode to "Multiply".  Reduce the opacity if you wish, I left mine at 100.

Use the colour replacer tool set to #532932 and change the color of the text in the Raster 1 layer.  If you need detailed instructions on using this tool, check out my "Kissable" tut HERE.

Glitter rectangle and glitter square: Select all, float and defloat.  Flood fill with #8d686f.  Adjust > Add/Remove Noise > Add Noise > Gaussian, 60%, Monochrome checked.

For the glitter circle layer: Select all, float and defloat.  Flood fill with #d8b0b8.  Apply the same noise effect as above.

Copy and paste the tube once again, resize 115%.  Place on the far right side of the tag.  Adjust > Hue & Saturation > Colorize > Hue: 247, Saturation: 87

Add your elements, I used:

DuskRose_04: resize 30%
RoseLeaves_01: resize 30%; duplicate and mirror
Perfume_01: resize 20%, then 85%
Phonograph_01: resize 40%
Feather_02: resize 25%; mirror; free rotate 35 degrees right; sharpen.  Duplicate and mirror
OldPen: resize 25%
RoseStem_01 & 02: resize each 25%
RoseBud_01, 02 & 03: resize each 20%, then 70% and flip.  Duplicate as many times as desired, resize some of the copies a further 85%
Notepaper _01: resize 20%
Notepaper_03: resize 20%; free rotate 20 degrees right
Butterfly_01: resize 20%; duplicate as desired

Apply drop shadows.  Hide the background layer and merge visible.  Unhide the background layer and add a new raster layer.  Select all.  Copy and paste a paper of choice into the selection; deselect.  Apply the mask and merge the mask group.

Crop and resize the tag.  Add your name and all applicable copyright and license information.  Save as a png or jpg and you're finished.  Enjoy your new tag!

Star Bright (PTU)

This tutorial was written assuming you have a general knowledge of PSP.

Supplies Needed

Scrap kit: I used a beautiful kit by Cindy's Creative Designs called "Star Lit Night".  You can get it at Butterfly Blush.  Thanks so much Cindy!

Tube: I used a wonderful tube by Wendy Fowler entitled "Serene".  Wendy's beautiful art is available at PSP Tube Stop.  Please don't use without a license.

Template: I used template #21 by TwyztedT's Playroom.

Mask: I used Big Mask #001 by Vix.

Font: I used Blessed Day, HERE.

Drop shadow used throughout: H&V 2, Opacity 75, Blur 10.

~~ Remember to save often! ~~

Place the mask in your PSP masks folder or a folder of your choice.

Open the template in PSP, duplicate and close the original.  Delete Raster 15, 10, 9, 8 and 7.  Change canvas size to 800 x 750.  Unhide the background layer and flood fill the blank area with white.

Activate Raster 5, select all, float and defloat.  Open a paper of choice from the kit, resize 70 - 80%.  Copy and paste as a new layer, invert the selection and tap delete.  Deselect and delete the original layer.

Repeat the steps above for the remaining layers except the rectangle frames.  Flood fill those with #fffea6.  Adjust > Add/Remove Noise > Add Noise > Gaussian, 50%, Monochrome checked.  Add this same noise effect to the Raster 3 paper layer, if desired.

After adding the paper layer to Raster 2, do not deselect.  Copy and paste Ray as a new layer and arrange as desired within the selection.  Tap delete.  Open Bling and resize 70%.  Copy and paste as a new layer and arrange within the selection.  Tap delete and deselect.

Resize the tube 85%.  Copy and paste as a new layer.

Add your elements, I used:

Grapes1: resize 40%
Star1 & 2: resize each 30%, then 85%
Flower2: resize 25%; free rotate 70 degrees left and sharpen.  Duplicate and resize 70%.  Continue to duplicate each size as many times as you wish and arrange along the left side of the largest rectangle (see my tag for reference).
Butterfly1 & 2: resize each 15%

Apply drop shadows.

Hide the background layer and merge visible.  Resize the merged layer 85%.

Unhide the background layer and add a new raster layer.  Select all.  Copy and paste a paper of choice into the selection.  Deselect.  Apply the mask and merge the mask group.

Crop and resize your tag.  Add your name and all applicable copyright and license information.  Save as a png or jpg and you're finished!  Enjoy your new tag!

Summer of '69 (PTU)

Summer of '69

This tutorial was written assuming you have a general knowledge of PSP.

Supplies Needed

Scrap kit: I used a fabulous full-size kit by Designed by Stina called "Summer of '69".  Please visit Stina's blog HERE for links to her stores.  Thanks so much hun!

Tube: I used "Vanessa" by Carlos Cartagena, who was an artist at MPT when I purchased this tube.  You can now find his work at PTE.

Mask: I used mask #34 from Moonbeams & Spiderwebs.

Font: I used "Candice", a pay font.  "Dolphins" is a free font that's almost identical and can be downloaded HERE.

Drop shadow used throughout: H&V 2, Opacity 50, Blur 8.

~~ Remember to save often! ~~

Open a new image, 800 x 700, white background.

From the kit, open Frame06 and resize 20%.  Copy and paste as a new layer.

Using the magic wand, click inside the frame; expand the selection by 5.

Open a paper of choice and resize 15%.  Copy and paste as a new layer and move below the frame.  Invert the selection and tap delete; do not deselect.

Open Van and resize 25%.  Copy and paste as a new layer above the paper and position as desired.  Tap delete and deselect.  Change the blend mode to Soft Light.

Open Music and resize 10%, position at the far left of the frame, see my tag for placement.

Open WordArt06 and resize 30%.  Copy and paste as a new layer and position in the center of the frame.  Select all, float and defloat.  Add a new raster layer.  Open a paper of choice and resize 15%.  Copy and paste as a new layer.  Invert selection and tap delete.  Deselect and delete the original layer.

Add your other elements, I used:

Flower04 & 05: resize each 15%; duplicate and mirror; resize 70%.  Arrange as shown on my tag or as desired.
Button02: resize 10%; duplicate
StringFlower04 & 05: resize each 10%

Apply drop shadow and make sure all layers are arranged to your liking.  Hide the background layer and merge visible.  Resize the merged layer 90%.  Unhide the background layer.

Copy and paste the tube as a new layer and position on the left side of the tag.  Apply drop shadow.

Activate the background layer and add a new raster layer.  Select all.  Copy and paste a paper of choice into the selection.  Deselect.  Apply the mask and merge the mask group.  Use the raster deform tool to adjust the mask to your satisfaction.

Crop and resize your tag.

Add your name and all applicable copyright and license information.  Save as a png or jpg and you're finished!

Colours of Summer (FTU)

Supplies Needed

Scrap kit: I used a beautiful FTU kit by Tasha's Playground called "Misfit Spring" and is available to download at Creative Misfit Creations.  Thank you for this lovely kit Tasha!!

Tube: I used a gorgeous tube by Renee Lavoie called "Pockets".  I LOVE the colours of this tube, it's breathtaking!  You can purchase Renee's tubes from PSP Tube Stop.  Please don't use without a license.

Template: I used another one of Bev's awesome templates, #142.  Download from her blog HERE.

Mask: I used mask #35 by Weescotslass.

Plug-in: I used Eye Candy 4000 Gradient Glow on my name.

Font: I used Miss Fitzpatrick, a pay font.

Drop shadows used:

On template elements: H&V 0, Opacity 55, Blur 12
Everything else: H&V 2, Opacity 55, Blur 10

~~ Remember to save often! ~~

Place the mask in your PSP masks folder or a folder of your choice.

Open the template in PSP, duplicate and close the original.

Delete the credit layer.  Change the canvas size to 750 x 750.  Activate the background layer and flood fill the blank area with white.

Activate Rec 1; select all, float and defloat.  Open a paper of choice and resize 80%.  Copy and paste as a new layer, invert selection and tap delete.  Deselect and delete original layer.

Repeat for Oval layer but do not deselect.  Copy sparkles from the kit and paste as a new layer above the paper layer.  Tap delete.  Open the tube and resize 85%.  Copy and paste as a new layer and arrange as desired.  Tap delete and deselect.

Activate Rec 2; select all, float and defloat.  Change foreground to #f677b9 and background to #000347.  Change foreground to gradient with these settings:

Style: Radial
Angle: 45
Repeats: 5
Invert: checked.

Add a new raster layer and flood fill with the gradient.  Deselect and delete original layer.

Use the Colour Replacer tool to change the dotted corner layers to the foreground colour.  Change the stars layer to the background colour.  Alternately, you could select all, float, defloat and flood fill if you prefer to use that method.

Activate the Strip layer; select all, float and defloat.  Flood fill with background colour.

Add your elements, I used:

dots: do not resize, arrange above the background layer at the top left side.  Duplicate and mirror, arrange on the bottom right.
tree: do not resize
flowers: resize 85%
flowerbranch: resize 70%; duplicate and mirror, resize copy 85%
branch: do not resize; duplicate, free rotate 10 degrees left and sharpen.  Duplicate and mirror.  Arrange as seen in my tag.
bird: resize 40%; duplicate and mirror


Apply drop shadows.


Hide the background layer and merge visible.  Unhide the background layer and add a new raster layer.  Flood fill with the gradient above, only this time uncheck the Invert box.  Apply the mask and merge the mask group.

Crop and resize your tag.  Add your name and apply the gradient glow if desired.  Here are the settings I used:


Under the Colour tab: choose "Medium" from the list of presets.


Under the Basic tab, change settings to:


Glow Width: 3.00
Soft Corners: 0
Overall Opacity: 100
Draw Only Outside Selection: checked


Click OK


Add all applicable copyright and license information.  Save as a png or jpg and you're finished!  Enjoy your new tag.  : )

Spanish Eyes (FTU)

Spanish Eyes

This tutorial was written assuming you have a general knowledge of PSP.

Supplies Needed

Scrap kit: I used a beautiful FTU kit by Rieka called "Redilicious".  You can find it at Creative Misfits Creations.  Please remember to say thank you when downloading, it's a small gesture for hard work freely shared.  : )

Tube: I used a gorgeous tube entitled "Spanish Eyes" by Elizabeth Austin.  I love this artist's work, her pinups are beautiful and I love the effect she creates with their eyes, so pretty and unique!  You can purchase Elizabeth's tubes at Up Your Art.

Template: I used template #141 by Horseplay's Pasture.  Download from Bev's blog HERE.  

Mask: I used mask #80 from Designs by Vaybs.

Font of choice: I used Aphrodite Stylistic, a pay font.

Drop shadows used:

For template layers: H&V 0, Opacity 55, Blur 12
Everything else: H&V 2, Opacity 55, Blur 8

~~ Remember to save often! ~~

Place the mask in your PSP masks folder or a folder of your choice.

Open the template in PSP, duplicate and close the original.

Delete the credit layer and dotted line 1.

Change the canvas size to 750 x 750.  Activate the background layer and flood fill the blank area with white.

Activate Rectangle 1, select all, float and defloat.  Open a paper of choice from the kit and resize 85%.  Copy and paste as a new layer.  Invert the selection and tap delete.  Deselect and delete the original layer.

Repeat for Rectangle 1 and the two Circle layers.  (Note: I did not resize the papers for the circle layers.)

After adding the paper to Circle 2, do not deselect.  Resize the tube 95%, copy and paste as a new layer.  Move the tube above the dotted circle layer.  Using the eraser, remove the bits of the tube that are outside the selection at the bottom.  Deselect.

Activate the Dotted Circle layer.  Select all, float and defloat.  Add a new raster layer and flood fill with black.  Deselect and delete the original layer.

Activate Dotted Line 2.  Select all, float and defloat.  Add a new raster layer and flood fill with white.  Deselect and delete the original layer.

Change foreground to #9f0101 and background to black.  Change foreground to gradient with these settings:

Style: Linear
Angle: 45
Repeats: 5
Invert: checked

Activate Strip 1.  Select all, float and defloat.  Add a new raster layer and flood fill with the gradient.  Deselect and delete the original layer.

Activate Strip 2.  Select all, float and defloat.  Add a new raster layer and flood fill with the gradient, same settings but uncheck Invert.  Deselect, delete original layer.

Add your elements, I used:

Heart-Chain: resize 60%
Butterfly 1 & 2: resize each 35%; free rotate right or left 15 degrees; sharpen
GlittersSwirl2: resize 50%; duplicate and mirror
Flower1: resize 30%, then 80%
Flower2: resize 25%; duplicate

Apply drop shadows.

Hide the background layer and merge visible.  Unhide the background layer and add a new raster layer.  Flood fill with the following gradient (foreground/background colours same as above).

Style: Radial
Angle: 45
Repeats: 5
Invert: checked

Apply the mask and merge the masked group.

Add your name and all applicable copyright and license information.  Save as a png or jpg and you're finished!  Enjoy your new tag!
