This tutorial was written by me on August 9th, 2012 and is the result of my own ideas. Any resemblance to any other tutorial is purely coincidental and unintentional.
PSP version used: X2, but should work in other versions.
This tutorial was written assuming you have a general knowledge of PSP.
Scrap kit: I used a wonderful kit called "Long Hot Summer" by Baby Cakes Scraps. Thanks so much Lynne, I love this kit!
Tube: I used one of Keith Garvey's awesome toon tubes, "Summer Toon". Keith was with MPT at the time I purchased this tube and will be opening his own store soon. Please don't use his art without a license.
Template: I used one of Twyzted T's awesome temps, #27.
Mask: I used mask #35 by Moonbeams & Spiderwebs.
Font: I used Payzant Pen, HERE.
Drop shadows used:
For template layers: H&V 0, Opacity 65, Blur 12
For everything else: H&V 2, Opacity 65, Blur 10
~~ Remember to save often! ~~
Place the mask in your PSP masks folder or a folder of your choice.
Open the template in PSP, duplicate and close the original.
Delete Raster 1 and 6. Merge together Raster 4 and the two copies of Raster 4 (3 layers total). Rename this layer "Bars".
Resize all layers 80%. Change the canvas size to 800 x 750. Add a new raster layer and send to the bottom. Flood fill with white.
Activate Raster 2. Select all, float and defloat. Open a paper of choice from the kit and resize 60%. Copy and paste as a new layer and position as desired. Invert selection and tap delete. Deselect and delete the original layer.
Follow these steps for the remaining template layers, except Bars, Raster 7, Raster 5 and Copy of Raster 5.
Change foreground colour to #e2271c and background to #fffba0. Change foreground to gradient with these settings:
Activate Raster 7. Select all, float and defloat. Expand the selection by 1. Add a new raster layer and flood fill with the gradient. Deselect and delete the original layer.
Activate the Bars layer. Select all, float and defloat. Add a new raster layer and flood fill with the above gradient, this time unchecking the Invert box.
Activate Raster 5. Select all, float and defloat. Add a new raster layer and flood fill with the foreground colour. Deselect and delete the original layer.
Activate Copy of Raster 5. Select all, float and defloat. Add a new raster layer and flood fill with the background colour. Deselect and delete the original layer.
Copy and paste your tube as a new layer; arrange as shown on my tag.
Activate the circular paper layer on the right side of the tag. Select all, float and defloat. Paste your tube as a new layer and resize 115%. Arrange a portion of the tube within the bottom circle and tap delete. Deselect and duplicate the tube. Mirror the copy and arrange within the top circle. Use the eraser to remove the bottom portion of the tube. Change the blend mode of both to Luminance.
Now add your elements, I used:
frame (3): resize 25%, then 88%. Use this to frame the circles on the right side. Duplicate and mirror.
sun: resize 40%
palm: resize 60%
leaf (2): resize 25%; duplicate and mirror
leaf (3): resize 25%, then 85%; duplicate and flip, remove any excess with eraser
blooms of choice: resize each 10%, then 85%, duplicate some and resize 70%
butterfly2: resize 8%; free rotate 25 degrees right or left. Sharpen. Duplicate and mirror
Apply drop shadows to all layers. Hide the background layer and merge visible. Unhide the background layer and add a new raster layer. Select all. Copy and paste a paper of choice into selection. Deselect and apply the mask, merge the mask group.
Crop and resize your tag. Add your name and all applicable copyright and license information. Save as a jpg or png and you're finished. I hope you enjoy your new tag!
