Music Of The Night

This tutorial was written by me on May 30th, 2012 and is the result of my own ideas.  Any resemblance to any other tutorial is purely coincidental and unintentional.

PSP version used: X2, but should work in other versions.

This tutorial was written assuming you have a general knowledge of PSP.

Supplies Needed

Scrap kit of choice: I used a gorgeous kit by Designs by Stina called "The Blue Butterfly".  This is a full-size kit and it's really beautiful!  Please visit Stina's blog HERE for links to her stores.  Thanks so much hun!

Tube of choice: I used the art of Anna Marine with a valid license.  You can purchase her tubes at CDO, please don't use without a license.

Template: I used template #114 by Toxic Desirez (scroll down to find the template d/l links).

Mask: I used mask #14 by Melissaz Creationz.

Plug-in used: Xero Porcelain, HERE.

Font of choice: I used Monsieur La Doulaise, a pay font.  Any nice script font will work well.

Drop shadows used:

For template elements: H&V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 15
Everything else: H&V 2, Opacity 50, Blur 10

~~ Remember to save often! ~~

Place the mask in your PSP mask folder or a folder of your choice.

Open the template in PSP, duplicate and close the original.

Change the canvas size to 750 x 750.  Delete the credits and star layers.

Activate the green rectangle layer.  Select all, float and defloat.  Open a paper of choice from the kit and resize 15%.  Copy and paste as a new layer.  Invert the selection and tap delete.  Deselect and delete the original layer.

Repeat these steps for the remaining template layers.

After adding the paper layer to the Lrg White Circle layer, do not deselect.  Copy and paste the tube as a new layer and arrange within the selection.  Tap delete and deselect.  Apply Xero Porcelain using the default settings.

After adding the paper layer to the Sm White Circle layer, do not deselect.  Paste the tube once again and resize 85%.  Arrange within the selection and tap delete.  Deselect.

Apply the Porcelain plug-in once again and duplicate the tube.  Change the blend mode of the original to Overlay and change the copy to Soft Light.

Add your elements, I used:

Foliage02: resize 15%; duplicate and free rotate 15 degrees left, sharpen.  Arrange as desired, see my tag for reference.
Foliage01: resize 15%; duplicate and mirror, use the eraser to remove any bits you don't want.
Heart02: resize 10%, then 70%.  Free rotate 15 degrees right and sharpen.
Bow04: resize 5%
MusicSheet: resize 10%, then 85%; mirror.  Duplicate and free rotate the original 15 degrees left.  Sharpen.
Violin: resize 20% and mirror.  Free rotate 15 degrees left.
Butterfly06 & 07: resize each 10%; free rotate 15 degrees left or right.

Apply drop shadows.  Hide the background layer and merge visible.

Unhide the background layer and add a new raster layer.  Select all.  Copy and paste a paper of choice into the selection.  Deselect and apply the mask, merge the mask group.  Resize mask layer 95%.

Crop and resize your tag.

Type a quote if you like, I used "If music be the language of love ... play on".  Add your name and all applicable copyright and license information.  Save as a png or jpg and you're finished!  Enjoy your new tag.

I'd love to see your results, email me HERE.  : )

Hugs, Carol
