Happy New Year 2012!

This tutorial was written by me on December 21st, 2011 and is the result of my own ideas.  Any resemblance to any other tutorial is purely coincidental and unintentional.

PSP version used: X2, but should work with other versions.

This tutorial was written assuming you have a general knowledge of PSP and Animation Shop.

Supplies Needed

Scrap kit of choice: I used a wonderful kit by HP Projekte called "Happy New Year 2012".  This kit is available at Inspirations of Scrap Friends.  Thanks so much Heppy!

Tube of choice: I used one of Barbara Jensen's gorgeous pinups.  You can purchase Barb's tubes from her store HERE.  You must have a license to use her art.

Template of choice: I used one of the new Kandee collab New Year's templates, available HERE.

Mask of choice: I used Gem's mask #194, HERE.

Plug-ins used: Eye Candy 4000, Gradient Glow.
DSB Flux, Bright Noise

Animation Shop

Font of choice: I used Fragrance, a pay font.  A nice script font like Aquarelle would work nicely too.

~~ Remember to save often! ~~

Place the mask in your PSP masks folder or a folder of your choice.

Open the template in PSP, duplicate and close the original.

Delete the info layer.  Change the canvas size to 900 x 750 with these Placement settings:

Top: 75
Bottom: 75
Left: 175
Right: 25

Click OK.

Unhide the background layer and flood fill the blank area with white.

Activate the left top square.  Select all, float and defloat.  Open a paper of choice from the kit and resize 20%.  Copy and paste as a new layer and arrange as desired.  Invert the selection and tap delete.  Deselect and delete original layer.

Repeat these steps for right top square, black rectangle, red rectangle, black squares and red circle.  Before deselecting the red circle, copy and paste your tube as a new layer and resize 150%.  Arrange within the selection and tap delete.  Change the blend mode to Soft Light.

Paste the main tube as a new layer (it will still be on your clipboard) and arrange on the left side of the tag.  Apply a drop shadow of choice.

Apply a drop shadow of choice to these layers, I used H&V 0, Opacity 65, Blur 10.

Change the Foreground to #87beea.  Activate the Change To Target brush with these settings:

Size: 999
Hardness: 100
Step: 10
Density: 100
Thickness: 100
Rotation: 0
Opacity: 100
Continuous: unchecked
Mode: Color

Activate the red rectangle frame, center the brush in the canvas and left click.  Repeat for the red glitter frame and Horn red layers.

Delete the bottle and replace it with the bottle from the kit (element #23).  Resize 20%, then 85%; free rotate 12 degrees left.  Apply drop shadow of choice, I used H&V 2, Opacity 65, Blur 8.

Change Foreground to #f2f6f9 and Background to white.  Activate the glass layer.  Select the Colour Replacer tool and change the settings to:

Size: 999
Hardness: 100
Step: 10
Density: 100
Thickness: 100
Rotation: 0
Tolerance: 40

Center the brush in the canvas and left click.  Duplicate this selection twice for a total of three.  Rename each glass 1, glass 2 and glass 3.  Hide glass 2 and 3 and activate glass 1.  Select all, float and defloat.  Modify the selection and contract by 4.

Apply DSB Flux, Bright Noise with these settings: Intensity: 75, Mix button selected.  Click OK.

Hide glass 1, open and activate glass 2.  Apply Bright Noise again, same settings but click the Mix button twice.  Repeat for glass 3, clicking the Mix button three times.  Deselect.

Follow these directions to apply the Bright Noise effect to the confetti layer after duplicating it twice for a total of three.  Rename each confetti 1, 2 and 3.

Use the colour replacer tool to change the colour of the squares and hearts.

Add your elements, I used:

#24: resize 13%, then 85%; free rotate 8 degrees left and place on your girls head
#17: resize 45%; duplicate and mirror.  Remove any excess at the bottom of the tag using your eraser tool.
#22: resize 20%
#18: resize 30%

Apply drop shadow above, or one of your choice.

Add your name, then apply Eye Candy 4000, Gradient Glow using these settings:

Under the Colour tab: choose the Fat preset
Under the Basic tab:

Glow Width: 3.00
Soft Corners: 0
Overall Opacity: 100

Click OK.

Crop and resize your tag.  Add all applicable copyright and license information.

Now let's animate!

Open Animation Shop.

Insure glass 2 and 3 are hidden and glass 1 is open.  Confetti 2 and 3 are hidden and confetti 1 is open.

Edit > Copy Special > Copy Merged.

In Animation Shop > right click on workspace and select "Paste As A New Animation".

Back in PSP, hide glass 1 and open glass 2, hide confetti 1 and open confetti 2.  Edit > Copy Special > Copy Merged.

In AS, Edit > Paste > After Current Frame.

Follow these instruction for glass 3 and confetti 3.

View > Animation to see your tag in action!

Save as a gif and you're all finished, I hope you enjoy your new tag!
