I Wish ... (PTU)

I Wish ...

This tutorial was written by me on November 29th, 2011 and is the result of my own ideas.  Any resemblance to any other tutorial is purely coincidental and unintentional.

PSP version used: X2, but should work in other versions.

This tutorial was written assuming you have a working knowledge of PSP.

Supplies Needed

Scrap kit of choice: I used a stunning full-size kit by Stina of Designs by Stina called "Jacaranda Blue".  What a lovely kit this is!  You can purchase it at Aussie Scrap Designs.  Thanks so much Stina!

Tube of choice: I used a beautiful tube by The Vintage Angel™ by Jessica Galbreth.  You can purchase these tubes from CDO.  You must have a license to use.

Mask of choice: I used mask #25 by Weescotslass.

Font of choice: I used Miss Lankfort, a pay font.

Drop shadow used throughout, unless otherwise indicated: H&V 2, Opacity 58, Blur 12.

~~ Remember to save often! ~~

Place the mask in your PSP masks folder or a folder of your choice.

Open a new image, 750 x 750, white background.

From the kit, open Frame01 and resize 20%.  Copy and paste as a new layer.

Activate the background layer.  Open a paper of choice and resize 15%, copy and paste as a new layer.

Using the freehand selection tool, draw a selection around the frame, like this:


Ensure the paper layer is activated, invert the selection and tap delete.  Do not deselect.

Copy and paste the tube as a new layer.  Resize 75% and arrange within the frame.  Tap delete and deselect.  Drop shadow frame and tube.

Add your elements, I used:

Bird: resize 5%
Birdcage: resize 15%
Doves: resize 5%
Hearts01: resize 20% (Drop shadow: H&V 2, Opacity 25, Blur 12)
Floral04: resize 7%
Floral05: resize 17%
Bougainvillea03 & 04: resize 15%, then 85%
Butterflies: resize 10%
Butterfly05: resize 5%, then 70%

Drop shadow all elements.

Hide the background layer and merge visible.

Unhide the background layer and add a new raster layer.  Select all.  Copy and paste a paper of choice into the selection.  Deselect.  Apply the mask and merge the mask group.  Use the raster deform tool to adjust size and placement to your satisfaction.

Crop and resize your tag, add your name and all applicable copyright and license information.  Save as a png or jpg and you're finished.

The Happiest Season Of All (PTU, Animated)

The Happiest Season Of All

This tutorial was written by me on November 28th, 2011 and is the result of my own ideas.  Any resemblance to any other tutorial is purely coincidental and unintentional.

PSP version used: X2, but should work with other versions.

This tutorial was written assuming you have a working knowledge of PSP and Animation Shop.

Supplies Needed

Scrap kit of choice: I used a gorgeous kit by A Taggers Scrap called "Bright & Beautiful Xmas".  This kit is simply stunning!  You can purchase it at Sophisti-Scraps.  Thank you so much Jo!

Tube and close-up of choice: I used the art of Anna Liwanag, you may purchase her tubes from PTE.  This tube was part of the PTE 2011 Christmas gift, you must have a license to use it.

Template of choice: I used a wonderful collab template (template #2) from DeeSign Depot.  Download HERE.

Mask of choice: I used Vix Christmas mask #4, download HERE.

Plug-in used: DSB Flux, Bright Noise, download HERE.

Font of choice: I used Fragrance, which is a pay font.  Any script font will work fine, Aquarelle would be a good choice, download HERE.

Animation Shop

~~ Remember to save often! ~~

Place the mask in your PSP masks folder or a folder of your choice.

Open the template in PSP, duplicate and close the original.  Delete the info layer, change the canvas size to 750 x 750.  Unhide the background layer and flood fill the blank area with white.

Activate the green bars layer.  Select all, float and defloat.  Open a paper of choice and resize 70 to 80% (your preference).  Copy and paste as a new layer.  Invert the selection and tap delete.  Deselect and delete the original layer.  Apply a drop shadow of choice, I used: H&V 0, Opacity 62, Blur 12

Follow the steps above for the following layers: gold oval, red rectangle, star backs.  After adding the paper to the star backs layer, do not deselect.  Open your close-up tube and resize 80%.  Copy and paste as a new layer and arrange within the selection on the left side.  Tap delete and deselect.  Change the blend mode to Darken or one of your preference.  Apply drop shadow to the tube, I used H&V 2, Opacity 62, Blur 10.  Do not drop shadow the star backs or red rectangle layer.

Copy and paste your main tube as a new layer and move beneath all the text layers.  Drop shadow using settings above.

Activate Raster 3, select all, float and defloat.  Change foreground to #040404 and flood fill selection.  Deselect.  Apply drop shadow: H&V 0, Opacity 62, Blur 12.  Apply this drop shadow to Raster 2 as well.

Activate Copy of Raster 6.  Select all, float and defloat.  Add a new raster layer and flood fill with #d72c8c.  Deselect and delete the original layer.  Drop shadow using H&V 2, Opacity 62, Blur 10.  Apply this drop shadow to Raster 5 as well.

Activate the Tinsel Gold layer.  Select all, float and defloat.  Add a new raster layer and flood fill with #f9fafc.  Duplicate this layer twice for a total of 3 layers.  Rename each Tinsel 1, Tinsel 2 and Tinsel 3.  Hide Tinsel 2 and 3.  Activate Tinsel 1 and apply DSB Flux, Bright Noise with the following settings:

Intensity: 50
Mix radio button selected.

Click OK.

Hide Tinsel 1, open and activate Tinsel 2.  Apply Bright Noise again, same setting but clicking the Mix button twice.  Do the same for Tinsel 3, clicking the Mix button 3 times.

Drop shadow each layer using the settings above.

Activate the gold frame layer.  Select all, float and defloat.  Add a new raster layer and flood fill with #f9fafc.  Adjust > Add/Remove Noise > Add Noise > Uniform, 50%, Monochrome checked.  Click OK.  Do not deselect.

Selections > Modify > Contract > contract by 3.  Flood fill selection with #040404.  Deselect.

Follow these same steps for the star frames layer.

Activate the Gradient Season layer.  Select all, float and defloat.  Add a new raster layer.

Foreground: #f9fafc, Background: #040404.  Change foreground to Gradient with these settings:

Style: Linear
Angle: 45
Repeats: 10
Invert: unchecked

Flood fill the selection with this gradient.  Deselect and delete the original layer.  Duplicate twice for a total of three layers and rename Season 1, Season 2 and Season 3.  Follow the directions above to add the Bright Noise effect to these three layers.

Activate The Happiest Of All Gold layer.  Select all, float and defloat.  Change the background to #d72c8c.  Change the gradient settings to:

Style: Linear
Angle: 45
Repeats: 5
Invert: checked

Flood fill the selection with this gradient and deselect.  Delete the original layer.

Now add your elements, I used:

bird: resize 35%; mirror
bag of ornaments: resize 50%
bow 6: resize 40%
flower 3: resize 40%, then 85%
flower 4: resize 40%
glitter stars: resize 95%, duplicate and flip
baubles of choice: resize 30 to 35%
teddy: resize 30%
reindeer 2: resize 35%
reindeer 3: resize 35%, then 85%

Drop shadow all elements.

Activate your background layer and add a new raster layer.  Select all.  Copy and paste a paper of choice into the selection.  Deselect.  Apply the mask and merge the mask group.

Crop and resize your tag, add your name and all applicable copyright and license information.  If you'd like to save without animating, save as a jpg or png now.  If you wish to animate your tag, follow these directions:

Make sure Tinsel 1 and Season 1 are both open and the other copies are hidden.  Edit > Copy Special > Copy Merged.

Open Animation Shop.

Right click on the workspace and choose Paste As A New Animation.

Back to PSP, hide Tinsel 1 and open Tinsel 2.  Hide Season 1 and open Season 2.

Edit > Copy Special > Copy Merged.

Back in AS: Edit > Paste > After Current Frame

Follow the same steps for Tinsel 3 and Season 3.

View > Animation to see your tag in action!

Save as a gif and you're finished, enjoy your new tag!

Santa Lives Here (PTU)

This tutorial was written assuming you have a working knowledge of PSP.

Supplies Needed

Scrap kit of choice: I used a gorgeous kit by Tootypup Scraps called "Christmas Joy".  You can purchase this wonderful and festive kit from Aussie Scrap Designs.  Thanks so much Susan!

Tube of choice: I used a wonderful tube by Myriadelle.  This tube was part of the 2011 Christmas gift package from the wonderful people at PTE.

Mask of choice: I used Christmas mask #16 by Vaybs.  Download from her blog HERE.

Font of choice: I used Island of Misfit Toys, HERE.

Drop shadow used throughout: H&V 2, Opacity 50, Blur 10.

~~ Remember to save often! ~~

Place the mask in your PSP masks folder or a folder of your choice.

Open a new image, 800 x 700, white background.

From the kit, open ChristmasAroundTheWorld_03 and resize 70%.  Copy and paste as a new layer and move down towards the bottom of your canvas.  Apply drop shadow

Resize the tube 55%, copy and paste as a new layer.  Position as shown in my tag.  Drop shadow.

Now have fun adding your other elements; I used:

DecoRibbon_01: resize 50%, duplicate and mirror
FlowerDecow_01: resize 55%
GiftBox_01: resize 15%, then 85%
GiftBox_02: resize 15%, mirror
XmasBall_01, 02, 03 & 04: resize each 5%, duplicate as many times as desired and use to decorate trees in the foreground.  Duplicate some of the balls and resize a further 70%.
HollyRibbon_01: resize 15%, duplicate as many times as desired and use to decorate trees.

Drop shadow all elements.

Hide background layer and merge visible.  Resize merged layer 95%.

Unhide background layer and add a new raster layer.  Select all.  Copy and paste a paper of choice into the selection, deselect.  Apply the mask and merge the mask group.

Crop and resize your tag.  Add your name and all applicable copyright and license information.  Save as a png or jpg and you're finished!

Silver and Gold (PTU)

This tutorial was written assuming you have a working knowledge of PSP.

Supplies Needed

Scrap kit of choice: I used an elegant kit by Bello Scarto called "Christmas Gold".  You can purchase this gorgeous kit from Inspirations of Scrap Friends.  Thank you so much Jay!

Mask of choice: I used Big Mask #001 by Vix.  Download from her blog HERE.

Plug-in used: Eye Candy 4000, Gradient Glow.

Font of choice: I used Carolyna Curvy, a pay font.  Any curvy script font would work just as nicely though.  Try Freebooter script, available HERE.

~~ Remember to save often! ~~

Place the mask in your PSP masks folder or a folder of your choice.

Open a new image, 750 x 750, white background.

From the kit, open element 21.  Copy and paste as a new layer, do not resize.  Apply a drop shadow of choice, I used H&V 2, Opacity 55, Blur 8.

Using the freehand selection tool, draw a selection around the frame.  Open a paper of choice and resize 60%.  Copy and paste as a new layer, move beneath the frame.  Invert the selection and tap delete.  Deselect.

Open element 4 and resize 50%.  Copy and paste as a new layer, move beneath the frame.  Apply drop shadow of choice.

Open element 40 and resize 80%.  Copy and paste as a new layer, move to the left side of the frame.  Drop shadow.

Add the rest of your elements and apply drop shadow; I used:

1, 2 & 3: resize each 10%, duplicate some and resize 70%; arrange on the tree
8: resize 10%
9: do not resize
10: do not resize
14: resize 35%
17: resize 50%
26: resize 40%, then 80%
27: resize 40%
41: resize 40%
42: resize 70%

Hide the background layer and merge visible.  Unhide the background layer and add a new raster layer.  Select all.  Copy and paste a paper of choice into the selection.  Deselect.  Apply the mask and merge the mask group.

Crop and resize your tag.  Add your name and apply Eye Candy 4000, Gradient Glow using these settings:

Under the Colour tab:
Select the Medium preset

Under the Basic tab:
Glow Width: 5.00
Soft Corners: 25
Overall Opacity: 100
Draw Only Outside Selection checked.

Click OK.

Save as a png or jpg and you're finished, enjoy your new tag!

Kisses From Paris (PTU)

Kisses From Paris

This tutorial was written assuming you have a working knowledge of PSP.

Supplies Needed

Scrap kit of choice: I used a gorgeous kit by Stina of Designs By Stina called "In Vino Romanze".  You can purchase this beautiful kit at Aussie Scrap Designs.  Thanks so much Stina!

2 Tubes of choice: I used the lovely pinup art of Jennifer Janesko.  You can purchase Jennifer's tubes from CDO.  You must have a license to use her art.

Template of choice: I used a template called Wish You Were Here from Twysted T's Playroom.

Mask of choice: I used mask #214 by Weescotslass.

Font of choice: I used Monika, HERE.

~~ Remember to save often! ~~

Place the mask in your PSP masks folder or a folder of your choice.

Open the template in PSP, duplicate and close the original.  Delete the Raster 1 layer.  Adjust the canvas size to 800 x 750.  Activate the Background layer, increase the opacity to 100% and flood fill the blank area with white.

Activate the Rnd Rectangle layer.  Select all, float and defloat.  Open a paper of choice from the kit, resize 80%.  Copy and paste as a new layer, invert the selection and tap delete.  Deselect and delete the original layer.  Apply drop shadow, I used H&V 0, Opacity 50, Blur 12.

Repeat above steps for the Postcard layer.

Activate the stamp layer, select all, float and defloat.  Add a new raster layer and flood fill with #716e27.  Deselect.  I didn't delete the original layer as it gives more definition but it's up to you.  Apply drop shadow, I used H&V 2, Opacity 50, Blur 8.

Repeat above steps for the Sending Love layer, changing the colour to #572d3b.  Delete the original when finished.  Do the same for the Lip layer.

Activate the Photo frame layer.  Change the foreground colour to #d0ccc1 and the background colour to white.

Activate the Colour Replacer tool with these settings:

Size: 999
Hardness: 100
Step: 10
Density: 100
Thickness: 100
Rotation: 0
Tolerance: 40

Center the brush over your canvas and left click.

Using your magic wand, click the black part on the left side of the photo frame.  Expand the selection by 1 and tap delete.  Do not deselect.

Open a paper of choice and resize 70%.  Copy and paste as a new layer.  Invert the selection and tap delete.  Do not deselect.

Open one of your tubes and resize 70% (if using the same tube).  Copy and paste as a new layer and arrange within the selection.  Tap delete and deselect.

Using the magic wand, select the black area on the right side.  Expand the selection by 1 and tap delete.  Follow the steps above, using the close-up tube this time.  I resized that tube 75%.

Activate the Miss You layer.  Change the foreground colour to #716e27 and the background to #0000ca.  Using the Colour Replacer tool with the same settings as above, left click on your canvas.  Repeat for the Wish You were here layer.

Now add your elements, I used:

Floral02: resize 50%; duplicate and mirror
Fountain02: resize 70%
Clock: resize 50%, then 85%
Wine Bottle: resize 40%
Wine Glass: resize 30%
Paper Butterfly 01 & 02: resize each 20%, then 85% x2; Free Rotate 15 degrees right or left
Birdcage: resize 50%
Roses 04: resize 20%

Apply drop shadow to all elements, using the settings above.

Hide your background layer and merge visible.  Resize merged layer 90%.

Unhide the background layer and add a new raster layer.  Select all, copy and paste a paper of choice into the selection.  Deselect.  Apply the mask and merge the mask group.  Use the raster deform tool to adjust size and placement if desired.

Crop and resize your tag.  Add your name and all applicable copyright and license information.  Save as a png or jpg and you're finished.  Enjoy!

Snowbird (FTU)

This tutorial was written assuming you have a working knowledge of PSP.

Supplies Needed

Tube of choice: I used a gorgeous tube by Susan Justice.  You can purchase her art from Up Your Art.  You must have a license to use her tubes.

Template of choice: I used Christmas template #1 by Tracy of Freebie Friends.  Download from her blog HERE.

Plug-ins needed:

Eye Candy Textures: Swirl (download a trial version of Eye Candy HERE)
Xenofex 1: Shower Door (Google search)
Toadies: Blur 'em!, HERE

Silk flowers by Dozibaer, download from her blog HERE.

Colored Stars freebie by Horseplay's Pasture Designs, HERE.

Font of choice: I used Santa's Sleigh, HERE.

~~ Remember to save often! ~~

Open the template in PSP, duplicate and close the original.

Delete Tracy F Designz layer.  Change the canvas size to 750 x 750.  Add a new raster layer, flood fill with white and send to the bottom.

Change your foreground colour to #325d78 and your background to #c7d9e8

Activate the oval layer.  Select all, float and defloat.  Add a new raster layer and flood fill with the foreground colour.  Do not deselect.  Delete the original layer.

Add a new raster layer.  Change your foreground to gradient with these settings:

Style: Linear
Angle: 45
Repeats: 5
Invert: Unchecked

Flood fill selection with this gradient.  Deselect.

Apply the Swirl filter using these settings:

Under the Settings tab: Select Features, Large Loops
Under the Basic tab: Select Add Swirl to Original Image, leave all other settings at default.  Click OK.

Change the blend mode to Hard Light.

Activate the rectangle layer.  Select all, float and defloat.  Add a new raster layer and flood fill with #325d78.  Do not deselect.  Delete the original layer.

Add a new raster layer.  Change the foreground gradient settings to:

Style: Radial
Angle: 45
Repeats: 5
Invert: Unchecked

Flood fill selection with this gradient.  Deselect.

Apply the Swirl filter again, using these settings:

Under the Settings tab: Select Solid, Small No Twist
Under the Basic tab: Select Add Swirl to Original Image, leave all other settings at default.
Click OK.

Change the blend mode to Hard Light.

Activate the circle layer.  Change your foreground back to colour and change your background to #8c2122.  Activate the Color Replacer tool with the following settings:

Size: 999
Hardness: 100
Step: 10
Density: 100
Thickness: 100
Rotation: 0
Tolerance: 30

Center the brush in your canvas and left click.

Select all, float and defloat.  Open the image that comes with the tube and resize 85%.  Copy and paste as a new layer and arrange within the selection.  Invert selection and tap delete.  Deselect.  Change the blend mode to Hard Light.

Apply the following drop shadow to all the fill layers: H&V 0, Opacity 40, Blur 12

Hide the background layer.  Edit > Copy Special > Copy Merged.

Unhide background layer.

Edit > Paste As A New Layer.  Move this layer so it's just above the background layer.

Apply Toadies Blur 'em! filter.  Change the X-blast to 20 and the Y-blast to 25.

Apply Xenofex Shower Door using the default settings.  

Copy and paste your main tube as a new layer and arrange.  Drop shadow: H&V 2, Opacity 40, Blur 10.

Open a-dozi's silk flowers F-07 and F-08.  Resize each 25%.  Colorize each flower using the following settings:

F-07: Hue -144, Saturation - 105
F-08: Hue - 56, Saturation - 21

Apply drop shadow above.

Copy and paste each flower as a new layer and arrange as shown on my tag or however you like.

Add the Stars of your choice, I used #11, 19, 24 and 30.  Resize as desired and place around your tag.  Add the following drop shadow to each star: H&V 2, Opacity 22, Blur 6.

Hide the background layer and the shower door effect layer.  Merge visible.  Resize merged layer 85%.  Unhide the two hidden layers.

Crop and resize your tag.

Now add your name and all applicable copyright and license information.  Save as a png or jpg and you're finished!  Enjoy your new tag!

Autumn Splendor (PTU)

Autumn Splendor

This tutorial was written assuming you have a working knowledge of PSP.

Supplies Needed

Scrap kit of choice: I used an absolutely gorgeous kit called Autumn Colours by Diane of Candy's Treats.  I'm always excited to work with one of Diane's kits because they're spectacular and this one is no exception.  Thanks so much for this wonderful kit hun!

Tube & close-up of choice: I used the art of Anna Liwanag, which can be purchased from PTE.  You must have a license to use her tubes.

Mask of choice: I used Big Mask 001 by Vix.  Download HERE.

Font of choice: I used Buffet Script, a pay font.  ILS Script is a lovely free font that would also work quite nicely, you'll find it HERE.

Drop shadow used throughout: H&V 2, Opacity 60, Blur 6.

Place the mask in your PSP masks folder or a folder of your choice.

Open a new image, 750 x 750, white background.

Add a new raster layer.  Select all.

Copy and paste a paper of choice into the selection.  Deselect.

Apply the mask and merge the mask group.  Reduce the opacity to 80%.

From the kit, open Cluster Frame 7 and resize 80%.  Copy and paste as a new layer, move over to the left side of the canvas (see my tag for placement).

Using the freehand selection tool, draw an outline around one of the frames, like this:


Open a paper of choice and resize 70%, copy and paste as a new layer, move below the frame.  Invert the selection and tap delete.  Do not deselect.

Copy and paste your close-up tube as a new layer and resize 60%.  Arrange within the selection and tap delete.  Deselect.  Change the blend mode to Luminance (L).

Repeat these steps for the second frame.

Copy and paste your main tube as a new layer, move to the right of the frame.

Now add your elements, I used:

WA-Autumn: do not resize
Cluster1: resize 60%
Cones: resize 40%
FlowerCluster2: resize 35%
Butterfly2: resize 20%, then 80%; free rotate 35 degrees right; duplicate and resize 70%
Butterfly3: resize 20%, then 80%; free rotate 20 degrees right; duplicate and resize 70%
Butterfly1: resize 20%; free rotate 20 degrees left; duplicate and resize 70%
(Scatter the butterflies around your canvas)

Apply drop shadow to all tag elements.  Hide the background and mask, merge visible all other layers.  Resize the merged layer 85%

Unhide the background and mask layers.  Use the raster deform tool to adjust the mask size and placement to your satisfaction.

Crop and resize your tag.  Add your name and all applicable copyright and license information.  Save as a jpg or png and you're finished!  Enjoy your new tag!
