A Little Night Music (PTU)

 (Click on tag to see full-size image)

A Little Night Music

This tutorial was written by me on July 17th, 2010 and is the result of my own ideas.  Any resemblance to any other tutorial is purely coincidental.

PSP Version used: PSP X2, but should work in other versions.

This tutorial assumes you have a good working knowledge of PSP, its tools and functions.

Supplies Needed

Scrap kit of choice: I'm using an absolutely gorgeous kit called "House Music" by Herbert of HF-Projekte.  This kit is stunning and has so many wonderful elements I was only able to scratch the surface in this tag.  I'm sure to use this one again and again!  You can get it at Inspirations of Scrapfriends.  Thanks so much Heppy!

Tube of choice: I'm using the beautiful pinup art of Jennifer Janesko with a valid license.  You can purchase Jennifer's tubes from CILM.

Mask of choice: I used a beautiful mask called sg-stencil-flowered-octagon.  This mask is the beautiful work of Essex Girl, and can be downloaded from her website HERE.  She has many gorgeous masks available and I thank her for freely sharing her time and talent!

Font of choice: I used Lavishly Yours

Drop shadow used throughout: H&V 2, Opacity 55, Blur 7

~~~~~  Ready?  Let's make a new tag!  ~~~~~
Place the mask in your PSP masks folder or a folder of your choice.
Open a new image, 850 x 750, white background.  I like to have lots of room to work, we'll resize later.
From the kit, open m31 and resize 50%.  Copy and paste as a new layer, free rotate 90 degrees right.  Move to the right slightly.
Copy and paste your tube as a new layer.  Resize if needed, I didn't resize mine.  Move below the frame.
Using the rectangle selection tool, draw out a selection on top of the frame, like this:
 Open a paper of choice, resize 20%, copy and paste as a new layer below the tube layer.  Invert the selection and tap delete.  Activate the tube layer, tap delete again.  Deselect.  Drop shadow the tube and the frame.  Merge these three layers (paper, tube, frame) together.
Open m5, resize 50%, copy and paste as a new layer.  Place on the left side of the frame.  Erase the long stem that sticks out to the right.  Drop shadow.
Open m37, resize 20%, copy and paste as a new layer.  Place on the left side of the frame and drop shadow.  Duplicate, mirror and resize 85%.  Arrange the copy on top of the first rose.
Open m27, resize 20%, then 90%.  Free rotate 10 degrees left, place on the left side of the frame, in front of the roses.  Duplicate and free rotate the copy 10 degrees left.  Sharpen both layers, drop shadow and arrange (see my tag).
Open m23, resize 30%, copy and paste as a new layer.  Mirror.  Use the freehand selection tool to draw a selection around the bow.  Cut and paste as a new layer.  Use the raster deform tool to rotate the bow to the right, then flip the image.  Arrange behind the violin and sharpen.  Drop shadow both layers.
Duplicate the smaller rose, free rotate right 90 degrees.  Arrange behind the bow and violin and erase the leaves underneath.  Drop shadow.  Duplicate and mirror, arrange between the two sheets of music.  Duplicate again and flip, arrange as seen in my tag.  Erase any extra bits of stem.
Open m6, resize 55%.  Copy and paste as a new layer, move below the merged frame layer.  Arrange as desired then duplicate and mirror.
Make sure you're happy with the placement of all elements, then hide the background layer and merge visible.
Unhide the background layer and add a new raster layer.  Select all, copy and paste a paper of choice into the selection.  Apply the mask and merge the mask group.  Use the raster deform tool to push the edges in until you're happy with what you see.
Add your name and all applicable copyright and license information.  Crop and resize to your preference.  Save the tag as a jpg or png file and you're done!  I hope you enjoyed my tutorial and I'd love to see your results!
Copy and paste the heart included with the word art and place behind the word heart.  Float/defloat, add a new raster layer and use the flood fill tool to fill with color #ffdbff.  Add an inner bevel using these settings:
Apply drop shadow to the heart and delete the original.
Open the two butterflies, resize each 15%.  Copy and paste as a new layer, free rotate 20 degrees to the left or right.  Drop shadow.
Activate the background layer and add a new raster layer.  Selections > Select All.  Copy a paper of choice and paste into selection.  Select none.  Apply the mask and merge the mask group.  Use the raster deform tool to push the edges in a bit.
This tutorial assumes you have a good working knowledge of PSP, its tools and functions.
Supplies Needed
Scrap kit of choice: I used a gorgeous new kit by WackyWinnie Designz called "Whimsical".  This is a beautiful kit that really lives up to its name!  There are lots of fun and colorful elements along with beautiful papers.  You can purchase it at Sunflower Scraps Boutique.
Tube of choice: I used the wonderful art of Cristina McAllister with a valid license.  You can purchase her tubes from CILM.
Template of choice: I used Template #46 from Melissaz Creationz.
Mask of choice: I used one of the wonderful floral masks from Creative Misfits Creations.  You can download from their blog HERE.  I used floral 3.
Font of choice: I used CurleyCue.
Plug-in used: Eye Candy Impact; Gradient Glow (for the name and word art), Filters Unlimited Noisy Zoom (optional, you can use the noise filter in PSP if you like).
Drop shadow used throughout: H&V 2, Opacity 58, Blur 8
~~~~~ Let's begin! ~~~~~

Save the mask in your PSP masks folder or a folder of your choice.

Open the template in PSP, duplicate and close the original.  Change the canvas size to 750 x 750 and flood fill the empty space in the background layer with white.  Delete Raster 1.

Float/defloat the bottom shape layer.  Open a paper of choice from the kit and resize 70%.  Copy and paste as a new layer, invert the selection and tap delete.  Do the same for the rectangle, rectangle frame and floral brushes layers.  Delete each original layer as you add the paper layers.

Use the eyedropper tool to select foreground and background colors from the kit or tube, then use the change to target brush for the fairy trail layers.  This tool is located in the side toolbar, in the fly-out menu just below the paint brush (see picture below).

Set size to 800, Hardness 50, Step 10, Density, Thickness and Opacity 100 and Rotation 0. Right or left click each fairy trail layer to change it to your desired color.

Activate the believe layer, float/defloat.  Add a new raster layer and flood fill with a color of your choice.  Use Eye Candy Impact to add a thin gradient glow.  Delete the original layer.

Add your tube, arrange in the center of the tag.

Time to add some grass.  Activate your tube tool and choose the lawn tube from the menu.  Add a new raster layer above the background layer and click as many times as you wish until you have the lawn of your dreams!  LOL!  (See my tag for reference).

Add your elements:

Binder Clip: resize 30%, use the raster deform tool to tip the image to the right.  Move to the top left side of the rectangle frame.
Flower String 2: resize 70%, then 90%.  Move to the bottom of the tag, below the tube layer.
CallaLilies 2: resize 30%, move to the lower left side.
Bougainville 1 & 2: resize 30%, duplicate and resize a further 85%.  Mirror the duplicate, free rotate 15 degrees to the left or right, arrange as desired.  Erase any odd bits you don't like.
Leaves: Resize 25%, move beneath the flower layers.
Merge the calla lilies, bougainville layers and leaves together.  Free rotate 15 degrees left and move behind the flower string.  Duplicate and mirror, arrange on right side.
Flower Spray 2: Resize 30%, place to the right of the merged layer and behind your tube.  Duplicate and mirror.  Arrange on the right side.
Tulip 1: Resize 20%, place where you like, duplicate as often as you wish and arrange to your satisfaction.
Mushroom 2: Resize 20%, place on the lower right side of your tag.  Duplicate and mirror.

Activate your background layer and add a new raster layer.  Select all, copy and paste a paper of choice into the selection.  Apply the mask and merge the group.

*Optional*: Duplicate the bottom shape paper layer and apply a guassian blur with a radius of 15.  Apply Filters Unlimited Noisy Zoom with default setting and sharpen.  Alternately you could apply a uniform noise effect (monochrome).  Or skip this altogether if you'd prefer.  Totally up to you!  ;-)

Now add your name and apply the same gradient glow you did above.  Add all applicable copyright and license information.  Crop and resize your tag as desired and you're finished!  Thank you for trying my tutorial!

Supplies Needed

Scrap kit of choice: I used a wonderful kit by Monti's Scraps called "Coffee Addict".  This is a fantastic kit and I'm sure Monti must have had me in mind when she created it.  LOL!!  I'm a coffee addict for sure!!  You can purchase this awesome kit at I Got Lucky Skraps.

 Tube of choice: I'm using the fun pinup art of Rion Vernon, aka PinupToons with a valid license.  You can purchase his tubes from CILM.

Mask of choice: I used another of the awesome masks available from Weescotslass, which you can download from her blog HERE.  I used mask 4.

Font of choice: I used Vertigo 2 BRK but any wide font will do.  :-)

Drop shadow used throughout: H&V 2, Opacity 58, Blur 6

~~~~~ Let's get started! ~~~~~
Place the mask in your PSP Masks folder or a folder of your choice.
Open a new image, 750 x 750, white background.  I like to have lots of room to work, we'll resize later.
From the kit, open one of the triple frames.  Copy and paste as a new layer.  Image > Free Rotate > rotate right 90 degrees.  Move to the left.
Using the magic wand with feather set to 0 and mode set to Add, click inside all three frames (make sure you click inside the open part of the bow loops and any open areas between the ribbon and the frame).  Selections > Modify > Expand > expand by 4.
Choose a paper from the kit, resize 70%, copy and paste as a new layer.  Move below the frame.  Selections > Invert > Delete.  Selections > Select None.
Choose some elements to place within the frames or alternately, you could add close-up sections of your tube, it's up to you.  Drop shadow the frame and the elements within the frames and merge these layers together (paper, frame, 3 elements).  Continue to drop shadow all the element layers as you add them.
Now have fun adding some of the wonderful elements that come in this kit!  I added the iced coffee, cream and sugar, mug and the cup full of beans to the bottom left of the frame.  I resized each element 30% and then adjusted accordingly.
Open Bow Double 2 and resize 40%.  Copy and paste as a new layer and mirror.  Place over the other bow on the frame.
Open Flower 2, resize 30%, then 85%.  Copy and paste as a new layer, place on top of the bows.
Open Blossom 1 and 2 and resize each 50%.  Copy and paste as new layers, arrange at the base of the frame on the left side, behind the other elements.  Erase any bits showing beneath the other elements.
Open Coffee Beans Swirl 1 and resize 50%.  Move below the frame layer and arrange at the top left corner.
Copy and paste your tube as a new layer.
I placed a cup and saucer on the extended hand of my tube.  If you would like to do the same, I resized 20%, then 70%.  I also added a wisp of steam using Eye Candy Nature.  If you'd like to do the same, first draw out a selection above the cup using the freehand selection tool.  Activate Eye Candy Nature, Smoke.  Choose Small, Steaming Coffee under the Settings tab, then play with the settings under the basic tab until you like what you see.  Here are the settings I used:
You could also animate the steam if you'd like, I chose not to this time.
Open one of the clocks, resize 30%.  Copy and paste as a new layer, move to the top right of the tag.
Activate the background layer and add a new raster layer.  Selections > Select All.  Copy and paste a paper of choice into selection.  Selections > Select None.  Apply the mask, right click the mask layer in the layers palette and choose Merge > Merge Group.  Resize the mask layer 90%, then use the raster deform tool to resize it exactly as you'd like.
Crop and resize your tag as desired.  Add your name, then duplicate and apply a gaussian blur with the radius set to 5 to the original, drop shadow the copy.  Add all applicable copyright and license information.  Save as a jpg or png and you're done!  I hope you enjoy your new tag!
Activate the background layer and add a new raster layer.  Selections > Select All.  Choose a paper from the kit, copy and paste into selection.  Apply the mask, right click the mask layer in the layers palette and choose Merge > Merge Group.  Resize 90% and use the raster deform tool to pull the side nodes out a bit.
Apply a drop shadow to the frame, tube and elements.  I used H&V 2, Opacity 58, Blur 6.
Add your name and all appropriate copyright and license information.  Crop and resize your tag to your preference.
~~~~~ It's time to animate! ~~~~~

Make sure the original candle layer is open and the copies are hidden.  Right click your tag and choose Copy Merged.

Open Animation Shop.

Right click on the workspace and choose Paste As A New Animation.

Back in PSP, hide the original candles layer and unhide the first copy.  Right click and copy merged again.

Back in AS, right click on the tag and choose Paste > After Current Frame.  Continue in this way for the remaining two copies.

Click View > Animation to see your tag in action!

Now save your tag as a gif and you're finished!  I hope you enjoy your new tag and I'd love to see your results!

Hugs, Carol
